Based on a true story, this sweet family drama depicts the impact a stray dog has on the lives of a group of tough, rugged miners. Red Dog brings the community together during a time when the remote small town is growing into a major mining center. Red Dog first comes to town after being clever enough to hitchhike his way across the Australian Outback. In turn, Red Dog inspires bravery in some men, saves the lives of others, and provides a comforting ear when needed most. Although the miners rally around him when the managers of the trailer park in which they all live try to banish Red Dog, he eventually has to square off against his nemesis, Red Cat.
The movie will be directed by Kriv Stenders, and produced by Nelson Woss, Julie Ryan and Aaron Ryder.
Written by Dan Taplitz(Chaos Theory, Breakin’ All the Rules, Commandments), the film will be shot on location in Western Australia, and is based on the novel by Louis De Bernieres (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin)
